Summary of year 2014

It’s the end of February now, so it’s time to summarize what happened around us last year. Fortunately we have a lot to tell. :)

The most important event of the year was the birth of our „B” litter: the puppies of Dotti (Dorothy Diamant von Bergen) and Capu (Capucino Vanika v. Bauernhof), four males and four females were born on 13th of June. Our life resolved around them in summer, their new families visited us almost every weekend. All pups from this litter live in Hungary, and the new families are forming a really good team: there are a lot of litter meetings, which is a big adventure for two-legged participants too. We are conspicuous wherever we appear with five or six or even more leonberger. :) There is an other unforgettable day I can thank to the families of our puppies: the day of MKSZ-Derby CAC dog show in October where 8 Lions from Fairy Tale leonbergers were presented. It was a pleasure to watch our five four-months-old puppies in the ring, and we all were pleased to get nice judgments, and of course for Lara’s Best of Breed title!

Our kennel got a new member in 2014: my parents kept a beautiful, cheerful female, Balisha from our B litter. Balisha captivated the big ones fast, her best friend – and of course bodyguard – is Mythos with his 80 cm height.

Of course we partecipated at a lot of dog shows this year, I’d like to summarize our most important results below:

Balisha – according to our traditions – debuted in baby class, at the age of 3 months. And not anywhere but in the Czech Republic, in Litohost at Dry Run Show, organised by one of the Czech Leonberger Clubs, where she got first place on the basis of the President of Canadian Leonberger Club, June Ward’s decision. At the end of October we traveled in the Czech Republic with Balisha again, where she won Baby Class at MSKCHPL European Leonberger Special Show on 24th, and then the next day she won Europen Dog Show where she also got European Promise title.

As far now Alice reached the greatest success in our kennel’s life: at the end of May she won Junior Club Winner title at the ÖCLH club show in Salzburg – where 76 leonbergers were presented – from Italian judge Dott. Francesca Mavilla. In addition she got ACH Derby Winner title and also performed the conditions of Romanian Junior Champion title in 2014. At the end of the year she partecipated at the breeding test organised by Hungarian Leonberger Club (LEOE) which she finished with very nice result (classification: excellent, behaviour part: 93,5%).

Before her puppies’ birth Dotti partecipated at one dog show only last year: at Karcag CAC where she won champion class and also got BOS (Best of Opposite Sex) title from judge P. Szabó Béla. In autumn we received a cup from MKSZ for her MKSZ Hungarian Championship which title she got due to her results from previous years.

Last year was full with successes in Mythos’ life both in junior and intermediate classes: he performed the conditions of Hungarian Junior Champion and Romanian Junior Champion titles, he got ACH Derby Winner and MKSZ Hungarian Derby Winner titles, and despite of his young age he became Best of Breed several times. For me, his nicest results were his second place in junior class in ÖCLH club show in Salzburg (with excellent classification), and his first CACIB title at the age of only 15 months in Szilvásvárad international dog show where he won against open and champion males! In total he was entered in four CACIB shows among adults last year and CACIB title was awarded him three times, so I am extremely proud of my big-headed son. :) Mythos did his breeding test too, with very good classification, in behaviour part he got 100%!

Aslan’s first show was ÖCLH club show in Salzburg where he got very nice jugdement and excellent classification from judge Sissy Fessl in special class. Both judges highlighted Aslan’s great behaviour in the ring and I also enjoyed every seconds with him. :) In October in Brno in Dry Run Show he won second place in intermediate class, in base of June Ward’s decision (President of Canadian Leonberger Club), overtaking his brother, Mythos who won third place there. Finally, in MKSZ Derby show Aslan won hobby class and got Best Hobby Leonberger title.

Alex won first place in his first show in 2014: in Champion of Champions show in Romania where he also got Best Champion is Breed title. During 2014 Alex performed the conditions of Hungarian Champion and Hungarian Show Champion titles. In the first part of the year he had more medical tests because of breeding purpose, and he also did breeding test in summer (he got „proposed for breeding” classification), and after that he became a stud male officially. In the first days of December he had the first female guest: Sherry Lady Oaza Wschodu visited him – after the successful mating Alex’s first puppies were born on 4th of February in Z Leonkovho Raja kennel in Slovakia. :)

We had Best Lions from Fairy Tale award this year again, which is always given to the most successful show leonberger who was born in our kennel but don’t live with our family now. The award of year 2014 was given to Lara again. Congratulations for the nice results to Lara and her owner, Kitti!

And what will come in 2015? We will visit more dog shows, we plan a lot of trips with our owners, and we hope that we have puppies at the beginning of summer – we will share the details in our website in March. And of course we hope that at the beginning of 2016 we will have a lot to tell again. :-)
